These days there are so many choices for windows it’s mind-boggling. And while there are many great ones to consider none top the clean and classic look of hardwood shutters.
So today that is my focus for window solutions.
What prompted this focus was my recent visit to a local Hunter Douglas showroom in Southlake called Read Design Window Fashions. I was there for some CEU classes for interior design and had the opportunity to peruse the shop and look at some their products. One of the items that caught my eye was the Heritance Hardwood Shutter display.
The rich black color is what drew me to them. I know you’ve seen plenty of white plantation shutters, but would you consider black? These are statement makers in addition to providing privacy and ultraviolet protection.
Heritance Hardwood Shutters are carefully crafted much like a fine piece of furniture using dovetail construction and a specialty finish resistant to humidity changes and scratching.
Hunter Douglas offers a selection of six different finishes: Glazed, Glazed and Burnished, Classic Distressed, Heirloom Distressed, Rustic and Textured. They come in 2 1/2, 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 inch blades depending on your preference and they offer several optional frames depending on your need. In addition, they offer a wide range of shapes and designs from arches to angles to hexagons, octagons, circles, ovals and even trapezoids of all things. You name it……whatever your design challenge may be Heritance probably has a solution..
The operating system offers a convenient Bi-Fold Track System which “allows up to 6 panels to be hinged together”
They are soil and dust resistant, GreenGuard Certified and come in a multitude of colors.
If you go to the Hunter Douglas website and click “colors” under Heritance you will see this page. At first it seems like these are the only colors offered, but when you click a color it opens up another group of color selections within that range. So there are great many more options than what you see here which makes it a fun product to work with.
If you are looking at window treatments don’t dismiss plantation shutters as being yesterday’s news.
They are current, they are classic, they are hip and they can be used in conjunction with just about any style of interior design!
