TRANSFORMING “HOLLYWOOD TEEN BLING” TO BOHEMIAN VINTAGE CHIC!

This is sort of a continuation of my last blog post on because my daughter started the Mod Podge technique I wrote about when she was transforming her room from “Hollywood Teen Bling” to Bohemian Vintage Chic (which I make reference to on that post, too.)

Some of you may remember the blog post I did on my daughter’s room a couple of years ago when she decided she wanted my old home office to become her new “apartment”.

And you may remember she wanted it to be in the Hollywood Bling theme.  If not, you can check out that blog post here.

Well, flash forward a couple of years and she’s changed her mind……again!  She’s a college girl now and more of a devotee of the Bohemian Vintage Chic look.  (The apple doesn’t fall too far from the mama tree…..It’s in her blood and the tweaking never ends!)

So down came the canopy and off came the rhinestones from her headboard.   In place of the black comforter is a more multi-colored Bohemian-esque spread she got at Target.  She added some colorful pillows to match the spread….

In place of the rhinestones on the headboard are now different colored fabric covered buttons.

She replaced the lampshade on her lamp from the black to this more colorful style…..

Changed her wall to this draped macramé look with pictures clipped on with clothes pins…..

Added more colorful pictures to her velvet butterfly chairs.

She used colorful craft paper that matched her new comforter to line these old mason jars that I had been storing in my storage shed. She hung them from the ceiling at different heights in between these pearl strands. Some of the jars have pearls wrapped at the top…..

And others – have the macramé tied around the top of the jars.

Inside the jars are battery operated tea candles that flicker through the craft paper.

Then it was time to update her plain white dresser with craft paper and Mod Podge which is on my previous blog.  Just scroll down to my previous blog post and you can see it if you missed that one.

So fun!  We’ll see how long Bohemian Vintage Chic appeals to her.  With designer genes in her blood one never knows!

(The nice thing now is that she’s old enough to work, save and pay for it herself.  Woo-hoo!)

Happy Decorating!

I have a leather headboard with rhinestones on it. But it was bought that way. Do you know anyway I can replace the rhinestones with regular buttons and the headboard still be tufted?

You might be able to pull off the rhinestones and hot glue the buttons on. If pulling the rhinestones pulls out the tufting you’ll have to get a long, thick upholstery needle and thread through the back of the headboard to the front pulling the button on tightly and then looping back and forth through the upholstery from back to front to back. When it’s in there nice and secure tie off the back of it and staple to the board in the back. Good luck!
