STAYCATION INVITATIONS!

Well…..it’s that time of year again……Staycation time that is.

After a fun-filled weekend last year with the fam they declared they wanted to do it every year which made this Mimi/Mama very happy.  So, of course, oblige them I did.

And, this year I decided I wanted to do something fun with the “invitations” so I decided to tap into my crafty side and get creative.

With burlap all the rage these days (and it being fall and all) I thought it’d be fun to do something with a rustic, casual, autumn-like vibe using it for the cover of my invitations.  So I bought some off the bolt at good old Hobby Lobby…..

And, glued a piece of wheat colored craft paper to one side to give it substance.  Then I frayed the edges a tad just to give it a more defined edge.  After making a front and back cover I hole-punched them with three holes and tied them together with string.

Next I took the same craft paper and cut a little tag shape with it and tied on a key with string.

I added a little note to the tag for the key to their individual rooms.  (They’ve nicknamed us as a couple “Doogimi”, a combination of our grandparent names….Doogie and Mimi. – Kind of our version of Brangelina I guess you could say. Smile )  So that’s what I referenced on the invitations….just in case you’re wonderin’.

I attached this to the outside of their invitations….

Inside when they opened it up they saw a little dorky poem I wrote (yes, I’m always writing dorky poems) about the Staycation…..

Which reads:

The third page was a sheet written specifically for each one and what they were to bring.

Then I rolled it up and tied string around the whole thing…..

And, slipped them into these cool wine boxes.  (The older ones were required to bring the wine box back with a bottle of wine of their choice in it)

Next I added a tag to the outside of each box with “Staycation Invitation” on it printed out on parchment-like craft paper.

And, when they were all done they looked like this.  Each delivered by hand…..

Just a fun little special way to start off a special weekend.

Come back in a few days and I’ll share our Staycation Vacation pictures and adventures with you.

Happy Decorating!
