I’m not going to lie. I know I’m a Texas girl, born and raised, but when you’ve had two sons at the University of Oklahoma you quickly become an OU fan. Texas-OU weekends at the Martin house tend to be much happier when the Sooners win in the big game. Last weekend was no exception. Happily we were all together (which unfortunately is rare these days) to watch the big event – just like old times when we’d congregate in our TV room to watch football together. My role is, and always has been, to keep the food and drinks coming in waves throughout the game. Something we’ve done for years and always enjoy.
In honor of the big event and the fact we were all together again to watch the big game I made OU cupcakes.
My son, Daniel, and his girlfriend, Melissa, came down to watch the game with the family. Love that! Is it just me or are they an incredibly gorgeous couple?
As always we had chips and salsa. A traditional favorite. I made queso, too, which is a tradition, but my daughter thought in the picture it looked like vomit so I thought it best to leave it off! Trust me it’s yummy.
Bacon wrapped, cheese stuffed jalepenos….always a fave! Quick recipe: Slice jalepenos in half, stuff with cream cheese, wrap in half a slice piece of bacon. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Broil for a minute or two before serving if you want them browned on top. Yummy! (And addictive!)
Here we are – The Gang – all smiles after the big win!
Is there anything better than hanging out with your precious family and enjoying just being together? I think not! I feel very blessed!
