Most of us like the warmth and joy a little seasonal decorating brings to our homes don’t you think? It’s always fun to add a little nod to whatever the season may be. But many of us just don’t necessarly have the energy or the budget required to do a LOT of seasonal decorating. If that’s you then I’ve got you covered. This tablescape I’m sharing with you today could go on a buffet like I show it here or it could be your main dining table centerpiece. In fact this used to be my dining table centerpiece. But, since I made a new floral for my dining table I decided to move this to the buffet. Wherever you may want to put it this is an inexpensive, easy Easter table arrangement.
Start with a grouping of candlesticks
This candlestick grouping is a cluster of mismatched, random candlesticks. Some were thrifted, some were purchased at regular retail….all collected over a number of years. One is actually a lamp that I turned into a candlestick. They didn’t all match – some were gold, some were silver, some were an off-white. So in order to give them a cohesive look and ebable them to work as a grouping I painted the silver and some of the funky gold ones an off-white color. Then I lightly sprayed over them and the original off-white candlesticks with an antique gold. This created a more seamless, “united” look even with the differing styles. Clustering them all together creates a unified, cohesive “look”. Like I said, I originally had these on my dining table. I loved them there and only moved them here after I made a new spring centerpiece for my table just to have something new and different there. But, now I really love them on my French chest so I think this will be their home for awhile.
Add greenery to the base of your candlesticks
Adding greenery to the base of the candlestick grouping acts as a filler and softens the overall look. It creates a foundation for additional items you may want to add. I just used a garland and wove it in and out of the candles. And – then in my case here – I’ve added some neutral, rustic dried flowers for everyday just to add bit of interest.
Add a couple of inexpensive Easter sprays for color
I added two sprays to this grouping. That’s it. That’s all it needed to create the spring look and start to bring in an Easter feel. These sprays were on sale at Hobby Lobby. We all know they have sales every other week so it’s easy to snag a sale. Keep your eyes peeled for the sales and nab a few. Better yet, check back right before Easter and you may be able to stock up on some Easter goodies for next year at 75%-90% off.
Add some subtle, neutral eggs
If you don’t want to add a lot of cutesy pastel colors, but are going for a more subtle, neutral look using neutral color eggs is a great way to go. I added these to my centerpiece on my table as well as to this candlestick cluster. They’re soft and subtle….but they still make a clear nod to Easter. Easy and cheap to add….and easy to remove when Easter is over.
Add a bird nest or two for added cozy charm
My absolute fave thing to incorporate into my tables and other areas is a simple, inexpensive bird nest like this. They are so adorable and between the rustic nest and the sweet little eggs they speak volumes: Spring is here! Easter is here! These are generally pretty cheap and they usually come in different sizes so they’re just an easy thing to slip into your existing decor. I have several of these all over my house.
Here’s another one, a little different style, but the same cozy additional Easter touch.
So you can see here from this picture, that it’s literally just a few simple, inexpensive Easter touches added to my existing decor that incorporates just the right seasonal affect. No need to spend a lot of time and money. No need to add to storage dilemmas. It doesn’t take a lot to create an impressive, but inexpensive, easy Easter table arrangement. And the nice thing is that the basic arrangement of candlesticks and greenery will stay long after Easter is over. Storing a couple of sprays, a few eggs and a couple of birds nests away until next year is quick and easy, too. Love that!
Happy Decorating My Friends!
