My precious, much adored father died peacefully in his home Friday evening, September 9th, surrounded by 18 members of his family — my mom, my siblings and our spouses, and most of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered around. An experience both painful and precious to us all.
It’s been a difficult week for my family as we laid him to rest and now try to adjust to our “new normal”.
Tribute To My Father
A kind and gentle soul was he…..
This man who graced the earth
Humbled by his modest means….
From the moment of his birth
A childhood spent near poverty
Filled with his mother’s love….
Formed this man of integrity
For which I thank my Lord above.
He possessed a quiet, genteel strength
And such a love for family….
A precious trait I hope to share
With all those close to me.
To journey through this “thing” called life
With such a great and gracious man….
To guide us with his father’s love…
And the kindness of his outstretched hand –
Is a journey made much easier
And blessed I know we are….
For he made his children better folks
Than we would have been thus far.
So I want to thank my God in heaven
Who’s dwelling with us here….
For the privilege of this father’s love….
A precious man I hold so dear.

The world moves on, but our grief continues.
We love you so much, daddy, and will miss you terribly. I look forward to the day we all re-unite again in eternity.

Sheri,
What a beautiful poem you wrote. The video has made me cry…especially that last picture of your dad giving your mom a kiss.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing a glimpse into your dad’s life and what he meant to you.

The service was by far the sweetest, most loving tribute to your father and family. What an amazing legacy of faith and love he instilled in his wife, children and grandchildren. I was so glad to be there with you and for you.

Thanks, Susan, I wish so bad you could have been there. And thanks, Barbie, I’m so happy you were able to be there and share this time with us. That meant so much to have you there.
