Along with Easter comes all the springtime feels that we are all so ready for after a long winter….even the mild winters we experience here in the south. There is just something about the fresh spring air, the longer days, barbecuing outside, gardening, etc. And, of course, for those of us who are seasonal decorators to our core…..bringing out those bunnies is high on the list.
One of the areas I love to decorate for different seasons in my home is my dining room. This year, for Easter, I decided to add some DIY wreaths to the back of the chairs and to the barn doors. These are simple to create and very easy on the budget. Thanks to good old Hobby Lobby!
Here are some of the supplies I used to create the look:
For the back of the dining room chairs I used these small grapevine wreaths from Hobby Lobby. These never go on sale (or rarely) so I had to spend the full amount on them. But as you can see they are reasonably priced so it wasn’t too bad.
I was able to use just one of these bushels of greenery and managed to get it 50% off. I split this up between all the wreaths and it worked perfectly.
And, lastly I used these cute little wooden bunnies with the burlap fronts. And, these were 40% off so they weren’t expensive at all.
So you can see the materials involved are simple and reasonably priced so they made for a very economical DIY that really adds so much Easter personality to my dining room.
The construction of the wreaths was super-duper simple. First, I used my wire cutters to separate the greenery stems so I could utilize them for all the wreaths.
I hot glued the stems onto each wreath, looping it around till it was almost completely full.
After the greenery was glued into place onto each of the wreaths I glued the bunnies in the center of each wreath like this.
Lastly, I tied some twine around the wreath and looped it onto the top rhinestone buttons on each chair.
I have to say I’m so happy with the way these turned out. They add such a sweet touch to the back of each chair. I absolutely love them! And, the cost was minimal!
See what I mean???? Is it just me or did these turn out so cute?! And each one amounted to about $7.00. Gotta love that! I didn’t do the other side of the table, because:
A) No one will ever see the other side and
B) We’re not hosting Easter dinner here.
It’s just a simple touch for the Easter visual that you WILL see. So…around $21.00 to create this sweet little look.
To coordinate with the look of the chairs I wanted to add some wreaths to the barn doors. These were even easier. I purchased some boxwood wreaths that can be used year-round and simply added small birds nests to the center of each one. However, I’m not a fan of Easter pastels.
I much prefer neutrals and soft colors.
Instead of these pastel eggs I wanted a bit more of a sophisticated look for my dining room. So I decided to pluck these cute little eggs right out of this nest and paint them.
Notice the eggs here are now white?
After painting them white I then rubbed on this metallic gold. I love the way they turned out. Much more suitable for my dining room.
Kind of an imperfect distressed gold, but gold none-the-less.
See how much better this softer gold looks here than the pastel colors. A much better fit for m dining room.
I am loving the addition of all these Easter wreaths to this space. They bring so much personality and fun here. Well worth the minimal investment of time and money.
I hope this gives you a fun Easter idea for your own home.
