Well, I’m a day late and a dollar short regarding Easter decor this year. But, I have had a LOT going on and trying to find the time to blog on a regular basis has been a serious challenge. My goal is to get to two blogs per week, but it’s been like climbing a mountain to get there.
But I really wanted to share with you some of the Easter decor I did this year, because I had a lot of fun with it and it may give you some ideas for next year. Maybe it’s too late to think about (who knows), but I’m gonna share anyway.
The most fun I had was on my screened in porch with my table and my hanging centerpiece. This was such a great area to “Easter up” this year.
First of all…..just having this hanging centerpiece makes holiday and seasonal decorating fun. You can scroll back to see some previous blog posts of different looks out here. This year I decided to play up the black and white buffalo check theme by trying my hand at decoupaging. And, while I admit that being a newbie at this process I didn’t do the best job, I do have to say I was happy with the overall look of them all.
I found some Buffalo check napkins at Hobby Lobby and I found these eggs in a package of eight for $5.00 at Michael’s. So I decoupaged the napkins onto the wooden eggs, glued them to a stick (I got the long dal rod at Home Depot) and secured them into a Styrofoam base. Next I placed them inside my long water trough centerpiece and camouflaged the Styrofoam with flowers and decorative moss. Then I added some carrots I cut away from an old vine I had on hand, some decorative plastic eggs and some small Easter signs I got from the Dollar Tree. These small signs were actually attached together as one sign, but I cut them apart so I could intersperse them into my centerpiece the way I needed.
I just tucked them into the flowers in the trough and in the bowls at each place setting for a fun Easter touch like you see above. It made for a fun, very inexpensive Eastery touch. You can also see some of the decoupaged eggs hanging with twine from my hanging centerpiece here, too.
The next thing I did was take some old brightly colored extra large eggs and paint them a creamy white color. Then I tied them with Buffalo check ribbon and placed them on top of the hanging centerpiece. This kept the overall colors neutral with the Buffalo check.
The pop of color came in the spring flower stems I added to both the table centerpiece and the hanging centerpiece.
If you look closely here you can also see the small wooden bunny rabbits hanging down with their Buffalo check bow ties. They came plain in a package of eight from Michael’s and I just added the tiny bow ties to compliment my look. A simple DIY, but one that added some serious Easter cuteness.
Some of the other details here: The check tablecloth is from Target last year. The check napkins were on clearance at Michael’s for $1.00 apiece. Love that! The check plates are from Hobby Lobby…I need more, but apparently they’re sold out. Unfortunately! The stripe chargers are also from Hobby Lobby. The colorful wooden inserts are from some more small Easter signs I got at The Dollar Tree and cut apart to use in this way. More functional for my need here. And a very inexpensive way to spread the Easter love.
I can’t remember the last time I had so much decorating a space for Easter. This was bright and cheery and springy and just what this space needed after a long, cold winter. Maybe it’ll give you some Easter decorating ideas for next year!
Happy Decorating!
