Every year for…..I don’t know…..six or seven years or so…..we’ve gone to the Hill Country with our friends for a long, fun weekend. The last two years we’ve gone to Gruene (pronounced green) – a cozy, little sleepy town filled with adorable houses, B&B’s and quaint little shops – for the Texas Country Music festival. Last year the weather was rainy and overcast, this year it was perfect. Lots of sunshine, cool evenings. Perfect.
Dave found this adorable little B&B, Gruene’s Yellow Haus, online located in Gruene, just walking distance from Gruene Hall where the musicians would be playing all weekend long. It was great with it’s four bedrooms, cute kitchen, family room and large backyard. (I couldn’t get good pictures, because we made too much of a mess with all our “stuff” everywhere. Sorry!) We sat out back for hours sipping on wine, talking, laughing…..watching the guys play horseshoes and grilling, having a great time.
My hubby, Doug, and I hanging out at Gruene Hall.
Our travelling companions. One couple who normally always goes with us every year couldn’t make it this year due to a sick child. Just not the same without them!
The ladies set out early on Sunday – such gorgeous weather! – to scope out the shopping. Last year on Sunday it was raining cats and dogs and we still managed to have a great time together shopping our little hearts out – so you can just imagine with the sun out and such picture perfect conditions how much fun we had.
This amazing mural was in one of the first stores we visited. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of it, but the owner made this beautiful piece. Isn’t it incredible? How would you like to have a backsplash like this in your house? It’s just amazing!
This little shop was my favorite. Isn’t it cute? Very welcoming curb appeal.
How is this for a fun painted piece? All these fun colors and the trim hanging down. Funky and fun! And the boots and jeans ain’t so bad either!
Don’t you love this???!!!!
This antique settee has been reupholstered in this rich gold velvet and refinished in a distressed finish – it looks so rich and girly. Lots of character. Love it! This is one of my favorite looks – an antique piece that has a fresh new coat of paint or new finish and a current fabric or fabrics for a sort of hip, updated look. It creates such a fun, interesting piece.
Great idea to give an old shelf new life!
More fun stuff!
Framed music sheets.
This is a newspaper print floor! She laid down the newspaper, then shellacked it over and over again. Very, very cool!
Just some fun displays of her great clothes and accessories.
So much shopping……so little time!!!!
Happy Decorating!
