What…..you may ask…..exactly is “Glamping With Mimi”? Well, technically it can be anything you want it to be I suppose. For me it was a special girlie time with my granddaughters. But, camping outside in the heat of a Texas summer was definitely not in the cards for this ole grandma. So the plan was to camp out inside. Which meant the stage needed to be set for a true “glamping” experience. DIY tents and all.
It was fun setting the stage for a girlie glamp-out with these tents I made using inexpensive wood from Home Depot (approximately $8.00 per tent in wood) and covered in burlap fabric from Hobby Lobby. The fabric was on sale for 30% off and I needed approximately 2 1/2 yards for each tent which added up to be around $10.00 per tent. Then I added these fun string lights for extra bling. These were $10.00 per box at Big Lots. Worth the extra money for the magic they created with the lights off. So with all of the supplies for the tents it came to a little less than $30.00 per tent to create. The pillows, sheets and wreaths I already had on hand and they worked perfectly with these blow up mattresses. The globe you see in the middle of the tents displayed unicorns, the moon and stars up on the ceiling in purples and pinks. My three year old granddaughter was mesmerized and positively giddy over it.
Just what this Mimi was hoping for.
To start the event out right I sent each of the girls a “Glam” invitation full of girlie goodies necessary for proper glamping: Hand sanitizer, paper fans, nail polish, flash lights, etc…..
When my oldest granddaughter decided it would be fun for us to play dress up for the event I was all in.
I mean….what’s better than a dress up glamping event?
So dress up we did…..ready for the first item on the agenda:
An elegant tea party!
This glam tea party included all my real English china set in my “girlie room” for extra girlie-ness.
Does this girl look regal or what?
Sweet June was beside herself with anticipation over a grand, glam tea-party.
This was her favorite part of the entire weekend. I served Peach Cream flavored sparkling water as our “tea”, grill cheese sandwiches and fruit. When I asked if she’d like more “tea”, she nodded yes and then put her little fists up to her mouth, eyes wide-eyed with delight and smiled at her sister in excitement.
Be still this mimi’s heart.
Next it was time to jammie it up and hit the tents for movie night. Indoor glamping at its finest. I made myself a bed on the sofa behind them and we snuggled up for an evening of movies, popcorn and candy.
The next morning after a donut breakfast it was time for the “spa” treatment. This included cold eye-pads, facials, pedicures and manicures. As you can see here little June had no problem feeling the “vibe” and enjoying it.
I see more spa time in her future.
Mama better look out. LOL.
Big sister was “all in”, too, and enjoyed a relaxing moment with her sister.
I had soft spa music playing in the background during the entire “spa session” to further enhance the atmosphere. Of course, Mimi acted as spa technician giving each of them their facials as well as their pedicures and manicures. And, I loved every minute of it.
When all was finished it was time for lunch and a quick shopping trip to pick out a $5.00 toy at the Five Below Store where there are plenty of fun things for $5.00 or below. Hence…..the name!
It didn’t take June anytime at all to find the perfect rainbow stuffed animal that she had to have.
Big sister took a little more time finding the perfect nail supplies and hair accessories. But, eventually she found just what she was looking for.
After shopping it was time to drop the girls at home.
Our first successful glamping weekend in the books!
Happy girls, happy Mimi.
Just the way I like it.
Until next year….
Happy Life By Design!
