I love going back to my husband’s hometown, Port Washington, in Long Island, New York. It’s one of those quaint little east coast towns that reminds you of the Christmas Villages we set up during the holidays. In the wintertime it truly looks just like a Christmas Village when it snows. All the holiday greenery and lights….so quaint and cute! Normally that’s when we go — at Christmastime, but last month my husband and I went to see my son, who was working in the city on an internship this summer, and, of course Doug’s wonderful family. While I was there I got the chance to hit a few stores on Main Street without the blistering cold whipping through my bones. (Shopping in a town like this is a lot more enjoyable when the weather isn’t so frigid and miserable.) One of these cute little shops was a great little design center called “Baltmore Design Center”. It was largely full of great contemporary furniture and accessories, but it also had some fun, interesting traditional pieces as well. A great place for fresh ideas.
