Okay, so I know how irritating it is to check out a blog you frequent only to find there have been no posts of late. Boring! And, I know for many of you that has been the case with my own. And, again….apologies are in order all the way around! But, I have my reasons……really I do! These last few months have been a whirlwind of activity with my moving into my new commercial office space, traveling to High Point Market for a week, installing an out of town model home, and working as an IDS co-chair for a charity near and dear to my heart that took every spare second of my life these last couple of months. In addition to that I’ve been to two out of town weddings and well, when you work full time and have a dozen or so client projects to stay on top of, there just “ain’t” enough hours in the day!
I decided to kick off what I hope is my re-entry into the blogosphere with a blog post on the recent “Design Mix” that the Interior Design Society put on at the impressive E.C. Dicken showroom in the Dallas Design District. Though I’m on the board I can claim no credit for the extravaganza. Knee deep in our charity project and no extra time in the day, this event was the result of the rest of the board, primarily Barbara Gilbert, our current president. Barbara, I must say, did a bang up job pulling it all together, along with the help of the other board members and the contribution of various vendors.
Above is myself with some of my fellow board members as well as my friend and fellow designer Glen Boudreaux of Glen Boudreaux and Associates, and Ashlynn, a much loved IDS member and Sherwin Williams representative.
Ever the gracious hosts the E.C. Dicken’s staff along with vendors Fiber Seal, Luxe and DeVance AV Design provided us with an array of fab food……
And an assortment of yummy cocktails. (Note the line to prove my point.)
Our respected vendors, members of ASID, and members of IDS filled the showroom for a meet and greet and to peruse the beautiful space.
Guests were greeted by members of our board, Dot and Alba.
Sleek, stylish lines and warm hues were prevalent throughout the showroom.
Luxurious, impeccable…..
Interesting details…
Expansive artwork…
Did I say luxurious already???? Yes, I think I did…..
Everywhere you turned there were interesting, detailed pieces to gush over…
And, for designers….well, that’s like a kid in a candy store.
It’s always refreshing to meet and visit with fellow designers. This is my friend Kristy, current president elect of the ASID Texas chapter (and my office partner, design partner and general partner in crime ), with some fellow ASID board members I had the privilege to meet.
Current IDS president Barbara and fellow board member, Christine visiting with one of the guests….
Friends and fellow IDS members – Alba, Jody, Dot and Denise.
There were prizes to give out – compliments of DeVance AV Design, Feizy Rugs and Terry Taylor. Shout out to each of them for these wonderful, generous gifts!
And, last, but not least, a lovely speech by the impressive Lisa Robison, founder of the Dwell With Dignity organization (whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with of late); as well as a heartfelt and much appreciated speech from Ashlynn, our Sherwin Williams rep and fellow IDS member. Both huge supporters of the Interior Design Society. A shout out to both of them for their kind words and their kind hearts!
It turned out to be quite an event. Hats off to the amazing and impeccable E.C. Dicken showroom as well as their staff for the lavish digs and “chic” atmosphere.
Happy Decorating!
