ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
I am now happily enjoying a new season which is basically (as weird as it sounds) the “last third of my life”. With that realization comes the added realization that it is time for me to wind down and explore other areas of my life. Like spending more time with my grandchildren and seeking ways I can serve the Lord. I look forward to all that life has to offer in this season and pray that God would open my eyes to new things and new opportunities – looking at life through His eyes rather than my own. So, I’m currently exploring other aspects of life and what other opportunities the Lord may have in store for me.
In addition to having had a successful interior design business for thirty years, I have watched my little family grow from a family of five to a family of fifteen. Marriage, babies and now teenagers….it’s been a blessing to watch my family grow over the years and, like most women, I love spending time with them more than anything in the whole world. They are my everything.
With my husband retired now we are enjoying our time together and experiencing life at an easier pace. It feels incredible to be off the proverbial hamster wheel together and to be able to enjoy each other and our family without the stress (and inconvenience, LOL) of work. Its a blessing beyond words, one that is not lost on us, and our hearts are grateful and full.
As always I continue to enjoy fluffing my own nest. I love gardening, thrifting and the hunt for fun and interesting home decor. I love household projects, a great bargain, DIY’s and woodworking. Yes, woodworking has become a passion and much loved hobby in retirement! And, best of all…..the current joint hobby for hubby and I is the purchase of our new RV. It’s a fun Grand Design “couple’s camper” with a small living area and kitchen and a separate bedroom. I’ve had so much fun cozying it up and we have found that we absolutely love spending time in our “glamper” whether its with friends or just the two of us.
My hope is that, in returning to and reviving my blog, that it reflects all of these loves in my life.
My Blogging Story:
Welcome to my blog! Although it has been a bit of a whirlwind over the years, I hope you find this blog the act of love and energy I’ve poured into it over the years. While the look and premise has been ever-evolving and ever-changing as time has gone on……it is now back to its original roots!
I started this blog years ago as a fun home-decor/family blog which is the essence of what I wanted it to be. And then, as advised, I (unfortunately) decided to take it in a more serious direction transforming it into a “professional” site for the sake of “branding” for my interior design business. So it went from a lighthearted personal blog called Savvy In the Suburbs to a more serious business blog called Sheri Martin Interiors. Which basically took the “fun” out of it for me, because that wasn’t the intent of my heart when I started.
And although my blog actually became quite successful, as my business (and my family) grew and grew and life got busier and busier I found it difficult to keep up with. It was left unattended much of the time. I popped in now and then but for the most part it has been ignored.
Until now.
I’m more than happy to say it is now back to Savvy In The Suburbs and I’m back to my basic blogging roots! It will take awhile for me to get back into the swing of all things “blog” , but I am excited about the journey. I hope you’ll come along with me.
