If you’re looking for a fun gift idea or maybe even something fun for your own home to display pictures, notes or recipes this is a fun idea. My sister actually made these for my daughter and daughter-in-laws for Christmas.
She admittedly got the idea from Pinterest (which of course is where so many great DIY craft projects come from), but I thought it would be a fun little craft to show you if you are a DIY-er looking for your next idea. Or even if you’re not a true self-declared DIY-er. This is easy enough for any of us to do!
This picture doesn’t do in justice at all, but trust me it is super cute and doesn’t take up a lot of space so it would be perfect for an office, a kitchen, a mudroom, a dorm room, etc.
First you need a yardstick. Technically any kind of long stick or board would work, but I like the yardstick idea,
Lots of corks.
If you don’t have them on hand you can go to your local Italian restaurants and ask them for their discards for free or you can purchase them from a retail store. (FYI – side note: many times restaurants will also give you their wine bottle discards for free if you ask, too. Great for weddings and party décor. I got tons of free ones when I needed to load the wine bar at a couple of model homes. Just so you know.)
You’ll need a good hot glue gun and plenty of glue sticks.
And you’ll just glue them on one by one, filling the entire yard stick. Tie a little bow at the top if it’s a gift. A raffia bow would look cute and could be kept on if you wanted.
See how it looks from the back side?
Great for displaying Christmas cards….
Recipes…..
Or reminder notes to yourself or someone in the family.
Easy, fun, functional!
