When I was a little girl at my aunt’s beauty shop I remember one of the hair dressers there saying how much she loved orange. It was her favorite color, she said, and her whole house was decorated in it. As a young girl I thought that sounded weird. A house full of all things orange?
But, of course, now with orange the craze of the moment I finally see what she saw so long ago. Orange is uber cool, uber fun, uber peppy and orange can make quite the dramatic statement.
Orange actually works well with a number of colors, but I especially like it paired with gray and/or white. This orange wall is the perfect back drop for this gray table and these stark white accessories. The orange gives the table and accessories more drama and interest than it would have otherwise had; and on the flip side, the gray table and white accessories help tone down the bold, orange wall. Both purposeful and intentional in their pairing.
See how this gray and white rug, the white accessories and the gray chest give the bold wall pause and keep the look classic and contained?
However, for those loud and proud lovers of all things orange, this all or nothing approach of layering the different shapes and textures in varying shades of orange works quite well, too. Also, very purposeful and intentional – this less restrained, bold color scheme creates an altogether different vibe.
And, if you love, love, love orange……well, then….more is more.
Bringing in fun shapes and unique objects like this to the wall lends itself to this fun, peppy color – creating even more pizazz.
And, if you like the color orange, but aren’t one to do bold orange rugs, walls or furniture try bringing it into your space with little pops of color in your accessories…
A little drama and punch can go a long way, too.
Happy Decorating!
