Most of us have old items that we grow tired of and either sell in a garage sale for mere pennies, throw away or take to a donation center.
But, what if you decided instead to take some of your junk and give it a little spunk? This is a lamp that I got from CCA for the banquet I recently did. I didn’t have to actually pay for these items since they were from CCA Resale and it was a CCA banquet, but if I did have to pay for it it would have only been a few dollars. Literally…..like three or four dollars, because it didn’t actually work.
And, the same thing with these lamps, too. Great lamp styles (although passe’ finishes), but they didn’t work unless you could re-wire them.
So since I didn’t actually need lamps, but was in serious need of nice, tall candlesticks and couldn’t find anymore at the resale stores I decided I’d just make ‘em with these old lamps.
First I had my husband “de-lamp” them by cutting the electrical cords and removing the light switch contraptions and harps (that’s the “U” shaped doo-dad that holds the lampshade) on all of them.
Which gave me the candlestick version.
Then I got my good old trusty friend……paint.
And, painted them all silver, added my candles and voila! Good as new…..a cool, fun candleholder.
Same with these…..
And no one ever knew they weren’t always actual candlesticks…..
Not a bad transition, huh?!
So there you have it….now you know how simple it can be to recycle the “old and tired” and turn it into something “shiny and new” just by puttin’ a little…..
spunk in your junk!!!
Happy Decorating!!!
