Last week I met with one of my clients on a new build design proect to talk about space planning and furnishing her new home. Since I arrived there a little early I stopped off at the model home there and meandered through to take a look.
One thing fun I noticed was the way the designer played up the ceilings.
(I wish I knew who the designer was and I’d give her a shout out, but the rep at the model didn’t know who it was.)
I’ve always been a fan of playing up the ceilings – at the very least with paint – so I enjoyed seeing her creativity in this model home.
Like this inset on the ceiling in the little girl’s room.
This soft teal color pops and makes a sweet statement with these little gold stars all over it without being too much. Really adds oomph and pizzazz to the space..
In the family room they painted the inset on the coffered ceiling black. A bold statement that – again adds impact and interest without being overpowering.
This cathedral ceiling dressed up with white wood planks and large beams really makes this game room interesting and creates a very open, interesting, inviting feeling.
And, this grass cloth ceiling with this linear wood accent is a huge factor in the design of this bedroom. With the white walls and white trim, this design really lends a significant element to the overall design of the space.
The ceiling in the media room is dark like the walls which of course works well for a media room. I especially like this dark gray color they used.
So give your ceiling some thought as well as the rest of the space. It can really enhance the room and create quite an impact.
